How to Order a Cake

5" and 7" 3-Layer Cakes: We need a 3 day advance notice for special orders. Read further information on this page for suggestion on: variety, size, price, or to design your own.
Feel free to call us at 413-773-9567 ext. 3 for advice, or to see if we are able to accommodate your order if it is less than a 3 day notice.

Cheesecakes & Cakes Larger Than 7" are available with 3 days advance notice (or at the discretion of the bakers).

Read further into this page to get some cake variety suggestions or to design your own flavor combination, then just speak with a bakery counter staff person to place your order (or call us at 773-9567).

How to Store Your Cake

Most of our cakes use fresh cream or butter fillings so they are perishable in HOT weather. It’s best to refrigerate your cake when you get it home and take it out to "temper" about 30 - 45 minutes before serving time, just the same way you would with butter so that it will spread and not be ice cold. Ganache and Preserve fillings and Ganache Frostings hold up best for distance travel in hot weather.

Vegan Cakes

Currently we make the following cakes that are free of any animal products:

Black Forest Cake - Chocolate Layers w/ Fresh Strawberries or Raspberries (when available) or Sour cherries & whipped coconut milk frosting.

Vegan Carrot Cake is also available upon request.

If you have other health or allergy concerns, we will usually be able to provide a cake to meet your specific needs (rice flour replacing wheat, for example).

What’s Our Bakery All About?

It’s all about deliciously healthy baked goods made fresh every day by our staff of highly skilled pastry and bread bakers.

Everything we sell is made right here in our market’s kitchen using the highest quality ingredients in the centuries old traditions of the European Artisan Bread and Pastry Baker Guilds.

Our baked goods contain no preservatives, no bleached flours, no food colors, no artificial flavors and no white sugar (as a sweetener, we principally use Florida Crystals, an eco-grown cane sugar that is evaporated only once (less refined) leaving in many of the minerals lost in white sugar - we also sweeten with local maple syrup and sometimes honey and barley malt). Products containing preserves and/or chocolate may contain refined sugar inherent in those products (Look on product ingredient lists).

All of our Breads are now made with 100% Organic Flours. Our pastries are not as yet made with organic ingredients.

We make baked goods to address many food concerns; some VEGAN desserts (no animal products), some that are wheat-free, some gluten-free and some without cane sugar (maple sweetened). We do not have true diabetic desserts since we do not use synthetic sweeteners including NutraSweet, Aspartame or Saccharin or Sucralose.
